Every year velankanni Madha festival starts at 29 th of august and ends with hoisting the matha flag at 8 th september.Thats this year also 2012, that velankanni matha festival have started at 29 th of august and its going to be end with Matha Flag on 8th September,2016.. 

Our lady of Good Health, popularly called "Our Lady of Vailankanni" is in the small town of Vailankanni (5000 residents) located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal. It is located 300 Km south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu and 8km south of Nagapattinam. Our lady chose this place to dispense her miracles to mankind. A strong oral tradition attests to Our Lady’s apparitions at Vailankanni(Velankanni).2 Trains are available from Chennai to Velankanni.

Trains Faceility to Velankanni From Trichy City : Tiruchi Railway Division will operate DEMU special services in the Tiruchi–Velankanni and Nagapattinam–Velankanni sections from August 29 to September 8, for easing traffic in connection with the annual festival at Basilica of ‘Our Lady of Health’ at Velankanni.

Train No. 06803 Tiruchi – Velankanni (daily) DEMU express special would leave Tiruchi junction at 11.45 a.m. and will reach Velankanni at 3.15 p.m.

The train would leave Ponmalai at 11.54 a.m.; Tiruverumbur 12.03 p.m.; Budalur 12.22 p.m.; Thanjavur 12.40 p.m.; Nidamangalam 1.15 p.m.; Tiruvarur 1.50 p.m. and Nagapattinam 2.35 p.m. The train would comprise eight coaches.

Train No. 06804 Velankanni – Tiruchi daily DEMU Express special would leave Velankanni at 3.40 p.m.; Nagapattinam 4.15 p.m.; Tiruvarur 4.50 p.m.; Nidamangalam 5.17 p.m.; 6.05 p.m.; Budalur 6.19 p.m.; Tiruverumbur 6.45 p.m.; Ponmalai 6.55 p.m. and reach Tiruchi Junction at 7.35 p.m. Train No. 06805 Velankanni –Nagapattinam DEMU passenger special would leave Velankanni at 12.30 p.m. and arrive at Nagapattinam at 12.55 p.m.

Train No. 06806 Nagapattinam – Velankanni DEMU passenger special would leave Nagapattinam at 1.55 p.m. and reach Velankanni at 2.20 p.m.
